It is with great sadness that HERO has learned of the death of Jacqueline Baird on 25th June following a short but unsuccessful fight against cancer. Jacqueline and her husband David had been regular competitors on HERO events such as the Scottish Malts and the Icelandic Odyssey and gained a Silver medal less than two months ago on the 2009 Scottish Malts. Jacqueline and David were popular with their fellow competitors and marshals as they were never without a smile or a pleasing comment. Jacqueline was a serious competitor but she always enjoyed the social aspect of the events, and the chance to meet up with old friends or make new ones. Following the 2008 Celtic Malts, Jacqueline and David were awarded a gold medal in recognition of having competed on all ten Scottish Malts Rallies. The black Citroen crewed by two smiling competitors will be missed. Our condolences and thoughts go out to David and his family at this time.
