Arnold and Melanie have two children and live in Zurich, where Arnold is owner of a real estate agency. They have a great list of long distance events to their credit: Paris - Dakar 1990; Paris - Peking 1992 and 1994; and HERO's London - Cape Town in 1998. The Toyota is factory prepared, with the addition of a 400 litre fuel tank, uprated suspension, shock absorbers and a roll cage. They are looking forward to the adventure of the Inca Trail - as long as the vehicle has air conditioning: something that Melanie insists upon.
