Chris has been involved in the world of domestic lighting since opening his first Lighting Emporium on London's King's Road in 1965. But his earlier career was in showbusiness - first as a magician and dance band singer, before training for the stage at the Italia Conti School. His many credits include TV appearances in Z Cars, Dr Who, Upstairs Downstairs and Black Beauty, plus appearing in the West End in Pickwick starring Harry Secombe. Chris is fascinated by South America, and will be co-driven by his wife, Jill, who is as excited as he at the prospect. His luxury item - apart from a camera and video camera - will be his swimming costume, to allow him to take some much-needed exercise. He and Jill are preparing for the event by getting fit and doing the essentials to prepare the Galloper. Chris also owns a well travelled 1928 Bentley 4.50, which he entered on HERO's London - Lisbon rally last year, and in 2001 on the Jewel of India rally, among many other long distance events.
