Paul Wignall/Mrs Jayne Wignall Volvo PV544 Sport 1959 KPX 13P GB/GB
Paul and Jayne have been rallying together since 1969. Jayne was runner up in the Ford Fabergé Ladies' Rally Championship in 1979 which 'found' Louise Aitkin-Walker. The couple returned to rallying - this time with historics - in 1989. Their Volvo was once owned and rallied by 50s rally ace Peter Riley. Since buying the car in 1992 from the late Paul Howcroft, Paul has driven it to outright wins on the 1997 Liège-Istanbul-Liège rally and the 1999 Scottish 1000 Mile Trial. Jayne is probably the most successful lady rally driver in historic rallying in Europe. She has achieved overall wins in Corsica (1996) and in Norway (1998) driving a Sunbeam Tiger. She has won two silver medals and one gold on LE JOG, and recently scored a gold medal hat trick on the Classic Malts (1998 - 2000). On the Inca Trail Paul will be the principal driver. But being the better navigator he will assume his normal role if things get too tough in the hot seat.
