JOGging INTO PASTURES NEW

HERO, organisers of LE JOG - the Land's End to John o'Groats Reliability Trial and Touring Trial - keen not to let the grass grow under their feet, have announced a bright new look to their winter challenge event for this year.

Dates for 2000 are Saturday 2 to Tuesday 5 December, and advance entries are already being received. Regular LE JOGgers will be pleased to know that there are plenty of favourite LE JOG regularity and test venues involved, with a welcome return to Porlock Toll Road for the first time since 1995.

But, as HERO Rally Manager, Mark Appleton, comments: "We wanted to keep the event fresh, so we've introduced a number of innovations. The traditional Welsh night leg is shorter and now a truly intensive challenge. The route runs closer to the English border than before, giving the opportunity for a few hours' sleep in Shropshire. Then we have new rally sections in the Peak Park, the West Riding and over the legendary Lakeland passes, before a second night halt at Carlisle. All these highlights add up to a great new look for LE JOG for 2000."

Entrants have the choice of participating in either the 1600 mile competitive Reliability Trial, or the non-competitive Touring Trial. The Reliability section is open to cars built from the 1920s up to the end of 1974, with the cut-off date for non-competitive entrants five years later.
