In all the ways that matter, the sixth SCOTTISH MALTS RELIABILITY TRIAL will follow the well proven path of its predecessors: a judicious mix of wonderful driving roads, stunning scenery, great tests, enjoyable regularities, and of course our own magic ingredient: visits to the distilleries producing some of Scotland's finest malt whisky, with plenty of opportunity to sample their wares when the day's driving is done. For 2003, though, there will be two important innovations.
First, we are introducing the SCOTTISH MALTS CLASSIC CAR TOUR, a gentler option which takes owners of more precious classics on a scenic journey through Scotland, free of the pressures of competition but touching base with the Reliability Trial at its highlights. This will take in some very special stopovers and will be limited to just 40 owners of selected cars.
And the SCOTTISH MALTS is now supported by a wider range of the companies that form the Scotch malt whisky industry, so we will be visiting fresh distilleries like Glenmorangie and The Macallan, as well as new attractions such as the Royal Yacht Britannia, John o'Groats and Balmoral Castle, and some excellent new test venues. Next year's event will be just five driving days, allowing you to fit the whole trip, home to home, within one week's holiday. This year's Malts sold out early, with a full entry of 135 crews. Don't miss the great treats we've got in store for next year - send for details. Old Malts, new ideas.
